Conjuctivitis is one of the trending causes of red eye and affects people of all age and socioeconomic class.viral conjuctivitis is responsible for majority of infectious conjuctivitis. It's account up to 75% cases currently happening in coastal of Kenya.

Patients mostly from the coast of kenya need to be educated that the condition of Viral Conjunctivitis is harmless and will resolve spontaneously.
Hand washing should be emphasized since the infection is highly contagious.
The emergency department should have a special room for patients presenting with Conjuctivitis to prevent spread to other people.
Signs should be placed on the doors about not shaking hands ✋ and washing hands regular to minimize infection. Once the patient has been seen he/she must be individual escorted out of the clinic to avoid contact with other patients.
Treatment and Management
Treatment of Viral Conjunctivitis is aimed at symptomatic relief and not to eradicate the self-limiting viral infection. The resolution of Viral Conjunctivitis famously know “Red Eye” can take up to 3 weeks of paining.
Treatment include using artificial tears, for lubricantion four times a day or up to ten times a day with preservative-free tears.
Topical corticosteroids alone are contraindicated in epethelia herpes simplex keratitis and are associated with prolonged viral shedding and infection. When used in combination with an anti-effective, corticosteroids demonstrate good tolerability and efficacy in treating and inflammatory of the eyes, infectious components of Viral Conjunctivitis.
